Welcome
... to the pages of the new M.A. Transcultural Studies at Heidelberg University. It is one of the first of its kind, combining interdisciplinary education with a transregional focus. The majority of courses are offered in English.
The M.A. Transcultural Studies is based on the perspective that cultures are not contained within ethnically closed, linguistically homogenous and territorially bounded spheres, but that they are constituted through transformations and entanglements that follow from extended contacts and relationships.
Students will select one study focus of the following - "Society, Economy and Governance", "Knowledge, Belief and Religion", or "Visual, Media and Material Culture" - within the M.A. Transcultural Studies.
We invite students interested in studying the dynamics of cultural exchanges to take a closer look at the M.A. Transcultural Studies by browsing the following pages. You may also contact us directly with your questions and concerns.
