Partners and International Cooperation

B10 cooperates with several institutions and individuals in China, Russia, Israel and North America. Since 2008 we work closely with Professor Dan Ben-Canaan, the director of the Sino-Israel Research and Study Centre at the School of Western Studies at Heilongjiang University in Harbin, and his research group. Together with Professor Ben-Canaan and the dean of the School of Western Studies, Professor Yin Tiechao, and also in cooperation with Dr Ines Prodöhl from the German Historical Institute (DHI) in Washington, B10 organized an international conference and summer school in Harbin. A common conference volume will appear in print at the end of 2011.

Furthermore, Olga Bakich, a former resident of Harbin and professor at the University of Toronto, and Professor Thomas Lahusen also from Toronto support B10 since the very beginning. One result of this cooperation is a documentary film about the international summer school and conference in Harbin in June 2009. “Meet me in Harbin” can be accessed through/via this homepage. See: http://www.asia-europe.uni-heidelberg.de/en/news-events/news/detail/m/film-about-conference-in-harbin.html

The Heidelberg Harbin project is also linked to the work of the Russian historical and civil rights organization “Memorial”, whose members conduct interviews with former residence of Harbin. Within the University of Heidelberg B10 is closely connected to the Institute of East European History, in particular to Professor Heinz-Dietrich Löwe.

We are very grateful for the support we received and still receive from this institutions and individuals and many others.
