The first international workshop of the Heidelberg Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe” has been held on April 18 to 19, 2008. Frank Grüner and Ines Prodöhl arranged a workshop on “Ethnic Ghettoes and Transcultural Processes in a Globalized City - New Research on Harbin.” A conference report written by Elena Aurilene has been published in the Far Eastern Affair.
