Curriculum vitae

Eugenia Bogdanova has studied Japanese Studies, Art History and East Asian Art History at Kiev National University (Ukraine), Kiev Art Academy (Ukraine), Kyoto University (Japan) and Heidelberg University (Germany). Her research fields include modern and contemporary Japanese painting and calligraphy in their international entanglements, as well as Japanese war paiting and its contemporary reverberations. Her dissertation project focuses on the Japanese postwar avant-garde calligraphy group Bokujinkai. Specifically it analyzes international connections between the Bokujinkai group and the contemporaneous Euro-American abstract art scene.
