About Sukla Chatterjee

Sukla Chatterjee joined the Cluster of Excellence as an associate member in 2012. She is supervised by Prof. Dr. Hans Harder (Department of Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures, South Asia Institute). 

Sukla holds a Master of Arts in English Literature and Master of Philosophy in Literature and Development Studies. Her M. Phil thesis was titled: 'Feminist Utopia and Human Development'.

Sukla's Ph. D thesis is titled: 'Gazing across the Divide in the Days of the Raj: The Imperial and the Colonized Women's Viewing of the 'Other'' which is a literary analysis of European and Indian women's assessment of each other in terms of body, sexuality and ideas of morality and obscenity.
