About Mariachiara Gasparini

Mariachiara Gasparini joined the Cluster’s Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies (GPTS) in November 2012, supervised by Prof. Dr. Monica Juneja (Global Art History) and Prof. Dr. Sarah Fraser

In 2005 she graduated from the University of Eastern studies of Naples (est. 1732). In 2010 she was accepted to the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London obtained a merit evaluation at the end of 2011.

Mariachiara’s Ph.D. project explores the transfer of Central Asian textile imagery to Europe along the Silk Road between the 7th and 14th centuries.

From September to December 2013 she was at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Art History as visiting scholar under the supervision of Prof. Matthew Canepa to study Sino-Iranian artistic developments.

Currently she is doing fieldwork in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
