Lots of Attention on Book by Takuma Melber

Takuma Melber published the volume “Pearl Harbor. Japans Angriff und der Kriegseintritt der USA“ with C.H. BECK in October 2016. December 7, 2016 was the 75th anniversary of Japan’s airstrike on Pearl Harbor, which resulted in an increased media interest in this historical event. Melber's expertise and research focus on this topic resulted in large amount of features.

Several interviews with Melber were published in the German newspapers, such as an interview in the Frankfurter Rundschau (Japan hätte Amerika viel starker treffen können), the Rhein-Main-Presse / Algemeine Zeitung (Signal aus Pearl Harbor an Trump and Das Unternehmen war völliger Wahnsinn) and the Kölner Stadtanzeiger (Es war für Japan ein großer Sieg mit wenigen eigenen Verlusten).

Furthermore, the science online magazine L.I.S.A. of the Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung interviewed Melber (Kein nationales Gedenken an Pearl Harbor). His book was also quoted in two online articles by Die Welt (Japanischer Frauenheld spionierte Pearl Harbor aus and So entstand Japans Plan gegen Pearl Harbor).

Melber had several appearances in German Television, like in the documentary “Pearl Harbor”, on television channel ZDF in the programme ZDF-History on December 4 and on ZDFinfo on December 5, 2016. The documentary is also available on the website of ZDF. Another documentary, “Expedition Pearl Harbor” was broadcasted on December 11, on ZDFinfo. Furthermore he appeared in “WDR Aktuell” and the “Aktuelle Stunde” on the WDR on the December 28.

Takuma Melber was also featured in several radio programmes and podcast: WDR (ZeitZeichen: Angriff auf Pearl Harbor), the Bayerischer Rundfunk, BR2 (RadioWelt) and Radio Bremen (Topic: Besuch von Premierminister Abe und seine Zusammenkunft mit Obama).

Takuma Melber is lecturer and coordinator of the M.A. Transcultural Studies at the Cluster “Asia and Europe”. In his book “Pearl Harbor - Japans Angriff und der Kriegseintritt der USA, he looks into the historical process and consequences of the attack of Japan on Pearl Harbor – an historic event which numerous conspiracy theories are based on, and demonstrates close-up perspectives of various actors, including that of the Japanese attackers.
