SWR2 interviews Barbara Mittler

German radio station "SWR2" interviewed Cluster member Prof. Barbara Mittler about possibilities and impossibilities for a dialogue between Europe and China.

In the interview, Prof. Barbara Mittler speaks about Chinese cultural communication and the possibilities for a dialogue between Europe and China on the basis of mutual understanding. Central aspects of the interview are the arrest of the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei last week and the opening of the exhibition "The Art of the Enlightenment" at the National Museum of China in Beijing on April 2. This exhibition is presented by three German museums and realised in cooperation with the National Museum of China.

The interview was held in the context of the "12th Stuttgarter Schlossgespräch", a round-table discussion organised by the German "Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen" and the Robert Bosch Stiftung in which Prof. Mittler participated. This year's topic was "China's Europe - Europe's China. A changing relationship". 

Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler is speaker of Research Area B "Public Spheres" and coordinates a number of research projects at the Cluster. She is Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies at Heidelberg University.

SWR2 is the cultural channel of the German public broadcasting company "Südwestrundfunk". The interview was broadcasted in the programme "Journal".
