Research Areas organised Retreats

The four Research Areas of the Cluster “Asia and Europe” organised retreats to discuss their research projects. The last retreat was held by Research Area A “Governance and Administration” on July 19th-20th, 2013, in Alsace, France.

During the retreat, members of the Research Area A engaged into discussions about texts that contribute to develop further research concepts and methods. Scholars of Research Area A research on questions of governance, administration and changing socio-political imaginaries under the conditions of cultural flows.

Research Area D "Historicities and Heritage held a retreat on July 12th-13th, 2013, in the Black Forest, where researchers developed new methods for their projects. Research Area D focuses on how objects, texts, languages, concept and spaces have been reconfigured over time in creating histories and memories as well as situating materialities of exchange.

The retreat of Research Area B “Public Spheres” was on July 5th-6th, 2013, in Rhineland-Palatinate. During the retreat members introduced their projects and promoted an interdisciplinary exchange between researchers. Research Area B explores cultural exchange processes between Asia and Europe in public and private fields of social practice.

Research Area C "Knowledge Systems" organised their retreat on June 28th-29th, 2013 in Alsace, France. Scholars came together and discussed their research concepts. Furthermore the researchers fostered a stronger cooperation between the project members. Research Area C has its focus on “Knowledge Systems”. The researchers focus on multiple forms of knowledge production and the relationship between knowledge and practice.

The research at the Cluster is organised in four areas: A “Governance and Administration”, B “Public Spheres”, C “Knowledge Systems” and D “Historicities and Heritage”. The areas are represented by their speakers: Prof. Dr. Diamantis Panagiotopoulos (Area A), Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius (Area B), Prof. Dr. Joachim Kurtz (Area C) and Prof. Dr. Monica Juneja (Area D).
