HRA invites Frank Bennett

Oct 23, 2012

The Cluster's Heidelberg Research Architecture (HRA) organised two public events with Prof. Frank Bennett (Nagoya University). He is the father of the multilingual branch of the free and open-source reference management software Zotero.

In a workshop on October 24, Prof. Bennett gave an introduction on how to customize citation styles for Zotero. The talk was aimed at researchers and students who are already familiar with Zotero or Multilingual Zotero.

On the next day, Prof. Bennett gave an introduction to Multilingual Zotero (MLZ) and presented his new book on MLZ that will be published this autumn. MLZ is an experimental version of the widely spread reference management tool Zotero. The talk on October 25 was aimed at researchers and students who work with multiple languages.

During his one-week stay in Heidelberg, Prof. Bennett also worked together with the HRA team on a connection between the Cluster’s Metadata Framework Tamboti and Multilingual Zotero.

Frank Bennett, law professor at Nagoya University in Japan, started using Zotero in late 2008 and has since then contributed various developments to the free and open-source reference management software. Zotero is used to manage bibliographic data and related research materials such as PDFs. Notable features include web browser integration, online syncing, generation of in-text citations, footnotes and bibliographies.

The events with Prof. Bennett were organised by the Heidelberg Research Architecture (HRA) and co-financed by Project D16 "Reasoning in South Asian and Tibetan Buddhism".
