Cluster welcomes New M.A. Students

Oct 04, 2013

A new generation of students has arrived at the Cluster to pursue an M.A. in Transcultural Studies. An opening session took place on October 8th at the Karl Jaspers Centre.

At the opening session, the programme coordinators introduced themselves and the MA’s aims and structure and guided the students through the steps of their first semester. Also, the student representatives talked about their work and welcomed the new arrivals.

The M.A. Transcultural Studies is a two-year full-time programme. The students will select one study focus of the following: "Society, Economy and Governance", "Knowledge, Belief and Religion", or "Visual, Media and Material Culture".  In the first two semesters they will attend seminars and lectures which will introduce them to the methods and theories of Transcultural Studies. The third semester may be used as a mobility window; while the forth semester is spent writing the master thesis.

Since the M.A. in Transcultural Studies started at the Cluster in 2011, it has attracted growing interest from around the world. This has resulted in about 200 applications from Germany and abroad this year.

You can find more information on the M.A. Transcultural studies website.
