HCTS Luncheon with Günter Leypoldt

Jul 10, 2014

Prof. Dr. Günter Leypoldt presented his research on "Acquired Tastes: Economies of Literary Value in Transcultural Perspective" during the HCTS-Luncheon to the university public. The event took place at the Karl Jaspers Centre on July 10, 2014.

Prof. Dr. Günter Leypoldt is professor of American Literature and Culture at the University of Heidelberg and Senior Fellow at the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS). His present research interests include transatlantic romanticism and modernism, American pragmatism and the borders between aesthetic and religious experience.

On the second Thursday of every month, the HCTS hosts a Luncheon with a buffet open to the university public with presentations by the HCTS fellows and invited speakers and discussants. The Luncheons are one of several HCTS-organised activities, like the Dinner-Seminars for fellows and the public lecture series.

Founded in April 2013, the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is a central institute of Heidelberg University situated at the Karl Jaspers Centre. Building on the structures established by the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context", it assembles outstanding scholars from all over the world and from any discipline to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with a focus on the dynamics of transcultural processes.
