HCTS Lecture by Hermann Parzinger

Jul 16, 2014

The Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) presented a lecture by Prof. Hermann Parzinger (Berlin) on the Humboldt Forum Berlin. The event took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in room 212 at the Karl Jaspers Centre.

Prof. Parzinger gave a talk in German with the title "Das Humboldt-Forum: Konzept, Planungsstand und Potentiale eines neuen Zentrums der transkulturellen Forschung und Begegnung in der Mitte Berlins". He spoke about Germany's largest cultural project that is currently being established in Berlin, the Humboldt Forum. It will function as a unique art and cultural experience centre presenting cultures and histories of Africa, Asia, Australia, Oceania and America. Along with the museums on the adjacent "Museumsinsel" it will form an outstanding collection of European and Near Eastern art and culture. The Humboldt Forum will integrate museums, libraries and also the university in order to combine research and dissemination. Transregional and transcultural studies will be an integral aspect of the future Humboldt Forum.

Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger is President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which is coordinating the Humboldt Forum Berlin, and member of the Advisory Board of the Cluster "Asia and Europe".

The public lecture took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm in room 212 at the Karl Jaspers Centre.

Founded in April 2013, the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is a central institute of Heidelberg University situated at the Karl Jaspers Centre. Building on the structures established by the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context", it assembles outstanding scholars from all over the world and from any discipline to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with a focus on the dynamics of transcultural processes.
