On Thursday afternoon, the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" held its General Meeting at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies.

After introductory words, Acting Director Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler informed the Cluster members about the latest developments concerning the Cluster, the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) and the soon starting construction works for the Centre for Asian Transcultural Studies (CATS).

In particular, she mentioned the achievements regarding the Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies (GPTS) and the M.A. Transcultural Studies (MATS). With consent of the German Research Foundation and Heidelberg University, the GPTS will be continued even beyond the end of the current funding period of the Excellence Initiative in 2017. Also, the MATS will be further improved in line with the university's guidelines.

Subsequently, she presented a number of new publications by Cluster members and congratulated several members for their job offers and visiting fellowships by renowned institutions worldwide.

Finally, Prof. Mittler invited to several upcoming events. More detailed information about these inaugural lectures, keynote speeches, Jour Fixe, HCTS Lectures and workshops is available in the website calendar.
