The video introduces Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler, professor and director of the Institute of Chinese Studies at Heidelberg University, Speaker of Research Area B "Public Spheres" at the Cluster of Excellence and coordinator of several cluster projects. One of her research foci is on Chinese propaganda art in the 20th century. Mittler takes us along the route of seemingly paradoxical flows from the West to the East, and back again.

The film portrait is part of a series conceptualized and realized by the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies, under supervision of Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius. Among others, ethnomusician Franck Bern├Ęde, historian Manik Man Bajracharya and media practitioner Deepali Gaur Singh have already been portrayed. Read more...

The short-films were made by Christoph Bertolo, a former student of anthropology, working in the Cluster's Heidelberg Research Architecture (HRA) and Frank Pfeiffer, who studies anthropology at Heidelberg University (SFB 619 TP A4).
