Conference "Handling Diversity" with Antje Flüchter

Dr. Antje Flüchter was one of the speakers at the conference "Handling Diversity. Medieval Europe and India in Comparison (13th-17th Centuries CE)". The conference was held at the Free University Berlin from September 9 to 11, 2011.

Together with Rajeev Kinra (PhD, Northwestern University), Dr. Flüchter gave a lecture on "Views on Heterogeneity". The lecture contributed to the discussions on scrutiny of diversity – cultural, religious, ethnical, and political –  which is a central field of current research on European history. Among others, the participants of the conference examined whether there are European or Indian patterns of dealing with heterogeneity. Further speakers of the conference included Corinne Lefèvre, Simon Teuscher, Manan Ahmed, Martin Kintzinger, Prithvi Datta, Nikolas Jaspert, Rajat Datta, Kim Siebenhüner, Peter Burschel and Wim de Winter.

The conference "Handling Diversity. Medieval Europe and India in Comparison (13th-17th Centuries CE)" was organised by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Thomas Ertl (Free University Berlin) and Prof. Harbans Mukhia (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi).

Dr. Antje Flüchter is Junior Research Group Leader at the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context". The historian coordinates the research project A9 "Cultural Transfer".
