Cluster holds General Meeting

On Thursday evening, the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" held its General Meeting at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies.

After a short welcome, Acting Director Prof. Axel Michaels informed the Cluster members about the latest news and developments. In particular, he explained the plans for the construction of the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) and invited the Cluster members to upcoming events such as the opening ceremony of the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies on April 28. Subsequently, Scientific Project Manager Oliver Lamers informed about the evaluation process all research projects must undergo in order to apply for a continuation of funding. Finally, Publications Manager Dr. Andrea Hacker and Dr. Martin Nissen, Open Access expert from the University library, gave a talk on the recent changes in the legal situation for Open Access Publishing.

The General Meeting is a major event at the Cluster, because all members come together and exchange important information. The General Meeting is held at the beginning and at the end of every semester.

The next General Meeting will be on July 24 at 4 pm.
