Cluster holds General Meeting

On Thursday afternoon, the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" held its General Meeting at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies.

Acting Director Prof. Thomas Maissen welcomed the members and informed them about the latest news and developments at the Cluster. In addition, he informed about the Heidlberg Centre for Transcultural Studies and plans for a Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies.

Prof. Harald Fuess reported about the Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies which attracted more than 190 applications from all over the world. Eric Decker informed about recent developments of the Heidelberg Research Architecture, and Dr. Kerstin von Lingen about the Cluster's library. Subsequently, Dr. von Lingen, Dr. Katja Rakow and Dr. Daniel M√ľnster introduced their new Junior Research Groups themselves, followed by introductions by a number of new members of various research projects.

Finally, the research area coordinator announced the next important events of the Cluster, such as next two Jour Fixe and retreats of the research areas during the summer term. Further upcoming events are the Summer School from August 4 to 8 and the Annual Conference from October 9 to 11.

The General Meeting is a major event at the Cluster, because all members come together and exchange important information. The General Meeting is held at the beginning and at the end of every semester.
