Cluster held General Meeting

On Thursday afternoon, the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" held its General Meeting at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies.

Acting Director Prof. Joseph Maran headed the meeting and reported about latest awards, appointments and publications by Cluster members. Further, he introduced new members and projects. He then gave an overview of the new selection process of the Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies. The four candidates will be selected in May and the next round of the programme will start in October. Subsequently, Prof. Maran gave an update on the German Excellence Initiative and the latest developments regarding the next funding period. Finally, the scheduled dates for the summer term were announced and Prof. Monica Juneja introduced this year's Annual Conference, which will take place in October on the topic "Making, Sustaining, Breaking. The Politics of Heritage and Culture".

During the meeting, the Cluster members elected a new Deputy Representative of the HCTS Professors in the Steering Commitee, Prof. Harald Fuess, and a new Deputy Speaker of Research Area D, Prof. Daniel König.

The next General Meeting will take place in July 2016. The General Meeting is a major event at the Cluster, where all members come together and exchange important information.
