Cooperation Agreement with Fudan University signed

On November 29, Prof. Christiane Brosius signed a cooperation agreement between the HCTS and the Center for Information and Communication Studies at Fudan University. Both centers agreed to develop interchanges in the areas of research, education and other academic activities during the next five years of cooperation.

The cooperation will encompass academic exchanges in the broad areas of mutual interest and related disciplines, including urban communication and Transcultural Studies in Asia and Europe. Also, the Centre for East Asian Studies (CATS) and the Centre for European History and Culture (ZEGK) at Heidelberg University and related centres at Fudan University, such as the departments for Philosophy, History and Cultural Anthropology, will cooperate in the future. In addition, a graduate student exchange program, MA or PhD level, will be set up in the near future between both research centers.

Prof. Christian Brosius, Prof. Joachim Kurtz and Acting Director Prof. Barbara Mittler will coordinate the cooperation at the HCTS.

The Center for Information and Communication Studies at Fudan University is part of the Ministry of Education’s Key Centers for Humanities and Social Sciences in China.

Prof. Christiane Brosius also participated in the conference "Communicative Cities and Urban Space", which took place from November 28-30 at the Center for Information and Communication Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai. During the conference, she was discussant on one panel and gave a talk on "smART City -Turbulent City? Artistic Engagements with Urban Ecologies in Delhi, India" on another panel.
