Book on Cultural Flows in Western Himalaya

Mar 03, 2015

"Cultural Flows across the Western Himalaya" is the title of a new book edited by Patrick McAllister, Cristina Scherrer-Schaub and Helmut Krasser. Patrick McAllister is postdoctoral researcher at the chair of Buddhist Studies. The volume has been published by Austrian Academy of Sciences Press.

This collection of essays is the outcome of a symposium hosted by the International Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, in 2009. An international group of scholars, collaborating in the Austrian Science Fund's research network “The Cultural History of the Western Himalayas from the 8th Century S98”, present their research on various areas, archaeological sites, monuments and centres of learning that, in various degrees, have studded the region along the centuries.

The volume "Cultural Flows across the Western Himalaya", 532 pages, has been published by Austrian Academy of Sciences Press in 2015 in the series "Sitzungsberichte der philosophisch-historischen Klasse" and "Beiträge zur Kultur- und Geistesgeschichte Asiens". It will be made available under an Open Access plan in the near future; please check the homepage of the Austrian Acadamy Press again after the beginning of February 2015.

The publication has been co-edited by Patrick McAllister, who is postdoctoral researcher at the chair of Buddhist Studies, held by Prof. Birgit Kellner. He worked together with Prof. Cristina Scherrer-Schaub, École Pratiques des Hautes Études Paris and University of Lausanne, and Dr. Helmut Krasser (†).
