Yale and Heidelberg complete Exchange Agreement

Oct 30, 2017

Prof. Fuess negotiated an agreement with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale University to intensify the strategic cooperation in Asian and Transcultural Studies as well as in the field of history.

Up to one academic year, Yale University will accept three students from Heidelberg University’s Graduate Programs in Transcultural Studies (GPTS) and send three graduate students to Heidelberg in exchange. Besides joining in training graduate students, the core bilateral scientific collaboration will be research on the impact of market systems on ordinary lifeworlds.

To that end, the project leader Heidelberg Professor Harald Fuess was invited as Visiting Professor in East Asian Studies at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University in the fall semester of 2017. His counterpart Yale Professor Fabian Drixler was a HCTS Visiting Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe” in Heidelberg in the summer 2017.
