Opening Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies

The films show the opening ceremony of the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS), a new central institute of Heidelberg University. The ceremony took place on April 28, 2014, in the Alte Aula of Heidelberg University. Minister Theresia Bauer, rector Prof. Bernhard Eitel and Prof. Matthias Kleiner (Leibniz Association) inaugurated the centre. The ceremonial speech was given by Prof. Avishai Margalit (Princeton).

About the HCTS

Opened in April 2014, the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) is a central institute of Heidelberg University situated at the Karl Jaspers Centre. Building on the structures established by the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context", it assembles outstanding scholars from all over the world and from any discipline to engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with a focus on the dynamics of global transcultural processes.
