Jun 21, 2019 - Jun 22, 2019 08:00 am to 08:00 pm
Organiser: Professorship of Cultural Economic History

Human mobility has long been an important feature within and across cultures. This conference will look at this age-old phenomenon reflecting worldwide contemporary public and academic debates with an emphasis on the dynamics created by transcultural connections not only within the regions of Asia, Europe and the Americas but especially between those regions in past and present. Applications are especially encourages that deal with the crossings of national borders and explore urban migration as well as deal with processes of inclusion and exclusion, integration and segregation, globalization and nationalism, state and society, and wealth and poverty.

Sarah LeBaron von Baeyer (Yale) and Robert Hellyer (Wake Forest), who are currently staying at the HCTS as visiting professors will each give a keynote address during the conference.

One of the aims of this international conference is to encourage the broader participation of younger scholars such as postdoctoral researchers, doctoral students and advanced masters students from various disciplines studying multiple forms of human mobility.
