Conference "Max Weber and the New Spirit of Capitalism – Self Regulation and Corporate Governance in a Global Economy"

Max Weber and the new spirit of capitalism is the topic of a conference taking place at the Karl Jaspers Centre starting on Friday, December 12.

Held in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Max Weber, the conference kicks off on Friday at 1 pm with an opening statement by Wolfgang Schluchter (Heidelberg) on "Capitalism from a World-historical Perspective. Max Weber's Theory and History of Capitalism". The conference closes on Sunday afternoon with a talk by Gary Herrigel (Chicago) on "Convergence and Varieties of Capitalism".

 

The conference titled "Max Weber and the new spirit of capitalism - self regulation and corporate governance in a global economy" is organised by research project A26 "The Transculture of Capitalism", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Markus Pohlmann, together with the Max Weber Institute for Sociology.
