Online registration

Online registration is open now. You can register online until October 1st. To register please fill out the form provided on the registration page.

If you are unable to complete registration by October 1st but would still like to attend the Conference, please send your inquiry to The final deadline will be October 6.

Fees due (payable via bank transfer) are as follows:

  • Non-Cluster-Members: € 40.
  • External students: € 20.
  • Cluster-members: free of charge.

Reception Desk

Registered participants will receive a conference folder and a name plate at the Reception Desk. The conference folder includes the final conference programme and other important information. Participants are required to wear their name plates during the conference.

You can find the Reception Desk in the hallway in the second floor of the KJC. The Reception Desk is open from 9 AM to 4 PM during the Conference.


The Annual Conference takes place in two different venues. Both are centrally located in Heidelberg:

  • The main venue is the Karl-Jaspers-Centre in Voßstraße 2, Building 4400, 69115 Heidelberg, near "Bismarckplatz". (Click to view on Google Maps)
  • The Keynote Lecture of October 7th will be held at the Alte Aula in Grabengasse 1, 69117 Heidelberg, at "Universitätsplatz" - University Square. (Click to view on Bing Maps)

Please note that the Karl-Jaspers-Centre is not handicapped accessible.

How to get to Heidelberg

By train

Heidelberg can easily be reached via the Deutsche Bahn intercity connection. You can find the timetable and buy tickets here.

By airplane

The nearest airport is located in Mannheim. This regional airport is connected with Berlin and Hamburg. From the airport, take Tram 5 to get to Heidelberg.

By car

Coming from the A 5, change to A 656 to Heidelberg at motorway junction Heidelberg.
Coming from the A 6, change to A 67 at motorway junction Viernheim and to A 656 to Heidelberg at motorway junction Mannheim.

The motorway will lead right into Heidelberg, but the road will split into three different directions immediately afterwards, so be sure to know which part of Heidelberg your hotel or venue is located in.

How to get to the Karl-Jaspers-Centre

The Karl-Jaspers-Centre´s main building is located in the city district Bergheim, only a 10 minute drive from Heidelberg main station and a 5 minute walk from Bismarckplatz.

By bus/tram

The nearest bus/tram station is Bismarckplatz. It is regularly served by Bus 31, 33, 34, 35 and Tram 5, 21, 22, 23 and 26. Please check the itineries on the VRN's website.

From Bismarckplatz, continue by foot. Take Luisenstraße (in which the Athos clinic is located) and follow the signs leading around the construction site. Once you are in Hospitalstraße, you can see the KJC to your right at the end of the street.

By car

Coming from the Autobahn, drive straight ahead and follow Bergheimer Straße. Turn left into Thibautstraße and then right into Voßstraße. You can see the main building of the Karl Jaspers Centre at the end of the street on the left side.

Coming from Neckargemünd, drive along the southern shore of the river, then follow Neckarstaden towards Zentrum and Bismarckplatz. Having passed Bismarckplatz, turn right into Bergheimer Straße. After about 300m, turn right two times into Thibautstraße and Voßstraße.

How to get to the Alte Aula

The Alte Aula and the Bel Etage are centrally located on the first floor of the Alte Universität at the Universitätsplatz in the city district Altstadt.

By bus

The nearest bus station is Universitätsplatz, served by Bus 31 and 32. The Alte Universität is but a few meters away from the bus stop.

Another nearby bus station is Peterskirche, served by Bus 33. From Peterskirche, pass the church via the stairs and turn right to follow the Plöck to Grabengasse. There, turn left to get to the Universitätsplatz.

By car

Coming from the Autobahn, turn right to get on Kurfürsten-Anlage. Continue straight ahead through Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage until Peterskirche. Turn left into Grabengasse to get to car park P11.

Coming from Neckargemünd, turn left at roundabout Karlstor, then turn right to get on Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage. After the tunnel, turn right into Grabengasse to get to car park P11.

Conference Rooms

All conference rooms at the Karl-Jaspers-Centre are equipped with Windows-computers, beamers and flipboards. Should any on the invited speakers wish for additional equipment, please let us know until October 1st at

To guarantee the smooth running of the conference we ask the speakers to prepare their presentations in the .ppt or .pptx file formats and send them to until October 1st. We must further ask the presenters to refrain from bringing their own computers as interoperability with our media equipment cannot be guaranteed. Please find detailed information on how to package your .ppt or .pptx presentations for transfer from your computer to our devices here. Both the deadline and the technical requirements need to be met if the IT-department is to make sure that everything works well.

Additionally, members of the IT will be present at the conference rooms before the individual panels start and assist with any remaining questions or technical difficulties.

Internet Access

The Karl-Jaspers-Centre provides wireless internet access. If your home institution provides access to the eduroam service, you will also be able to access eduroam from here. Please contact your home institution’s IT-department beforehand for further details. If you do not have access to eduroam, please find instructions on how to wirelessly access the internet in your conference folder.

For those wishing to access the internet via wire, two internet stations will be set up on the 2nd floor of the Karl-Jaspers-Centre, close to the Reception Desk.
