"Frontiers of Knowledge: Health, Environment and the History of Science"

Concept: The Cluster of Excellence 'Asia and Europe in a Global Context' is proud to welcome renowned scholars from around the globe to its 2011 Annual Conference. Keynote lectures by Prof. Sunder Rajan (Chicago) and Prof. Janet Hunter (London School of Economics) as well as four podium discussions (Ancient Medicine, Circulation and Changing of Conceptions of Knowledge, Travelling Technologies - Tracing Transculturality, and Seascapes and Shipping) will examine the global flows between Asia and Europe focusing on Frontiers of Knowledge: Health, Environment and the History of Science, and a range of panels bring together senior and young scholars from outside and within the Cluster.

Programme and Venues: The conference will start on October 5, Wedndesday, with the first keynote lecture held at the Alte Aula. Thursday, October 6, offers two podium discussions in the morning and two panel sessions in the afternoon followed by the conference's second keynote lecture at the Neue Universität. Friday is also structured around two discussions and two panel sessions and concludes with a plenary in the evening.
