Project D3 organizes a conference on "Images of the Other"

Research Project D3 "Images of Alterity" organizes a conference titled "Images of the Other in Medieval and Early Modern Times".

The conference is held at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies and at the Department for European Art History in Heidelberg from June 17 to 19.

It is organized by research project D3 "Images of Alterity". The coordinators are Prof. Dr. Lieselotte E. Saurma and Dr. des. Anja Eisenbeiß.

The keynote lecture will be given by Prof. Suzanne Conklin Akbari (University of Toronto) on "The Other's Images. Christian Iconoclasm and the Charge of Muslim Idolatry in Medieval Europe".

Further speakers are Maurizio Peleggi (National University of Singapore), Eva Frojmovic (University of Leeds), John Victor Tolan (Uiversité de Nantes) und Anthony Cutler (The Pennsylvania State University).
