Scholarship for Björn-Ole Kamm

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation awards a Ph.D. scholarship to Björn-Ole Kamm, coordinator of research area C "Health and Environment". The scholarship is granted to support his dissertation on labeling and stereotyping.
Björn-Ole Kamm’s Ph.D. project will be funded for the duration of up to three years. The scholarship includes a monthly grant, membership in the student organisation of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), as well as participation in workshops, seminars and mentoring. In his dissertation, Björn-Ole Kamm focuses on how locally embedded processes of labeling and stereotyping operate in a global and networked world. The research includes fieldwork in Japan and the US.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) was established in 1925 as the political legacy of Friedrich Ebert, Germany's first democratically elected president. Today it is the largest and oldest German party-associated foundation. The aim of the Foundation is to promote democracy and political education as well as to foster equal access to education. The foundation provides scholarships for 2,700 undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students each year. In addition to its headquarters in Bonn and Berlin, the FES maintains offices and projects in over 100 countries
Björn-Ole Kamm is coordinator of Research Area C "Health and Environment" which focuses on the transfer between Asia and Europe of practices concerning, institutions for, ideas about, and perceptions of health and environment. It is chaired by Prof. Harald Fuess.
