Film Portrait of Philipp W. Stockhammer

A film portrait introducing Dr. Philipp W. Stockhammer and his research has been produced by the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology under supervision of Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius.
In the film, Dr. Philipp W. Stockhammer describes his focus on the appropriation of Aegean pottery in the Southern Levant (Israel, Lebanon) in the Late Bronze Age between 1400 and 1100 BC. He analyzes why the people in the Southern Levant acquired this pottery and how they used the vessels.
Dr. Philipp W. Stockhammer is Postdoctoral Researcher in project D2 "Materiality and Practice" at the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context". Besides, he is affiliated with the Institute of Pre- and Protohistory at Heidelberg University. In his habilitation thesis, he focuses on "Material Entanglements: The Appropriation of Foreign Pottery in the Eastern Mediterranean Late Bronze Age".
The film portrait is part of a series conceptualized and realized by the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology under supervision of Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius. The idea is to present selected Cluster researchers and their projects. Among others, the ethnomusician Franck Bernède, the historian Manik Man Bajracharya and the media practitioner Deepali Gaur Singh have already been portrayed.
The films are produced by Christoph Bertolo, a former student of anthropology, and Frank Pfeiffer, who studies anthropology at Heidelberg University.
The Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology is a central pillar of the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" at Heidelberg University. It is held by Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius.
