Conference on "Indian Social Sciences" with Axel Michaels

The Cluster’s Acting Director Prof. Axel Michaels was one of the key speakers at an international conference on the Indian Social Sciences in New Delhi. The conference was held at the beginning of February and was organised by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).
On February 6th and 7th, scholars from around the world got together in New Delhi, India, for the “International Conference on Indian Social Sciences in the Changing World: Roles, Responsibilities and Reforms.” Among the international speakers was Prof. Axel Michaels, Acting Director of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” at Heidelberg University. Prof. Michaels shared his experiences in a plenary assembly about “Approaches and Institutional Mechanisms”.
The conference was organised by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The ICSSR was established in 1969 by the Indian government to promote and strengthen the research in social sciences in India.
Prof. Axel Michaels is Acting Director of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context,” and Director of the Department of Classical Indology of the South Asia Institute, at Heidelberg University. Furthermore, he is Speaker of the Collaborative Research Centre 619 “Ritual Dynamics".
