Barbara Mittler and Thomas Maissen talk about new volume

Feb 18, 2019

Prof. Barbara Mittler, co-director of the HCTS, and Prof. Thomas Maissen, former director of the Cluster "Asia and Europe," wrote a piece about their book "Why China did not have a Renaissance – and why that matters" for the De Gruyter blog "Conversations." Mittler focuses on the New Culture Movement in China in "Toward a History-In-Common," and Thomas Maissen presents his thoughts about history in context in "Why we should spell Renaissance with a capital R." Their book was published in June 2018 within the series "Critical Readings in Global Intellectual History."
