Cluster Branch Office in New Delhi
The Cluster's Liaison Office in New Delhi was established in 2009 as part of the Heidelberg Centre South Asia (HCSA), which emerged out of the long standing presence of Heidelberg's University's South Asia Institute (SAI) in New Delhi.
The HCSA's aim is to promote academic cooperation with research and teaching institutions in South Asia and to encourage the exchange of scholars and students. Thus, the office coordinates existing partnerships and facilitates the initiation of new cooperative endeavours. In particular, the HCSA staff provides information on studying and research opportunities, expertise in finding appropriate partners, support in facilitating mobility, showcasing innovations, and alumni networking. It further facilitates organisation of workshops and conferences in India, and thus contributes significantly visibility of Heidelberg University, in general, and the Cluster "Asia and Europe", in particular.
The HCSA was inaugurated on 17th November 2009 by Klaus Tappeser, Ministerialdirektor of Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eitel, Rector of Heidelberg University, and Prof. Dr. Axel Michaels, Co-Director of the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context".
The Representative in New Delhi is Dr. Doris Hillger.
