Über Sijia Cheng

Sijia Cheng (Ch. 程思嘉) joined the Cluster’s Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies (GPTS) in October 2016. She received her BA in Chinese Language and Literature from Fudan University and MA in Sinology from Heidelberg University.

Her ongoing dissertation project concerns a cultural history of animal waste in late imperial China, focusing on multiple uses of excrement as medicines, fertilizers and fuels. She is broadly interested in history of animals, history of science, technology and medicine, environmental history, and East Asian Studies. 

Lebenslauf

September 2017 - February 2018  Visiting Predoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin.

Since October 2016  Doctoral fellow at the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context", Heidelberg University.
