Über Rosanna Sirignano

Rosanna Sirignano joined the Cluster in 2014 as Student Assistant for the Start-up Professorship for Transcultural Studies (Humanities). In 2016, after two years of training in Semitic Studies, with a special focus on Syrian and Palestinian Arabic, she joined the Cluster´s Graduate Programme for Transcultural Studies (GPTS) supervised by Prof. Dr. Susanne Enderwitz (Islamic Studies) and Prof. Dr. Daniel König. Her PhD thesis is entitled "Female anthropologists in the Arab world: European Orientalism and Palestinian culture in the field notes of Hilma Granqvist (1890-1972)  http://www.asia-europe.uni-heidelberg.de/en/studies/graduate-programme-for-transcultural-studies/doctoral-students/rosanna-sirignano.html

In 2009 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Languages, History and Cultures of Mediterranean and Islamic Countries at "L´Orientale" University of Naples with a focus on History of Near East, Arabic language and literature, Berber language, History of North Africa, Islamic Philosophy, Anthropology and Arabic Dialectology. In 2012 she was awarded a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies at the same university, with a focus on History of contemporary Islam, Sociology of Islam, Anthropology and Semitic linguistics. Her M.A. thesis provided her with the preliminary material for her current research.
