Über Olga Iljassova-Morger


Literary and Cultural Studies

Short biographical note   

Olga Iljassova-Morger studied German and English Philology at the Chernyshevsky Saratov State University in Russia. After the completion of her studies with distinction in 2004, she was working on her PhD thesis “From Intercultural to Transcultural Literary Hermeneutics” at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Chair of Literature and Media Practise) and acting in different roles as a lecturer, research assistant, and editor. From 2006 till today, she has been an associated member at the interdisciplinary graduate school within the project “Humanism in the Era of Globalization. An Intercultural Dialogue on Culture, Humanity, and Values” at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen. She completed her PhD thesis in fall 2008, is currently engaged as a lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen and working on a postdoctoral project with the title “Transcultural Flows in Reception of Literature”.

Olga’s research interests range from intercultural and transcultural literary studies, transcultural reception of literature, hermeneutics (18th – 20th cent.) to transcultural methodology and comparative imagology. Her publications focus on different applications of transculturality to the field of literary studies.
