Study Exchange to India

In 2014, the Cluster has established its own exchange programme with one of India's most prestigious universities.

University of Hyderabad

The University of Hyderabad is one of the most prestigious central universities in India. Direct partners for the exchange agreement are the Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as the Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication. Students from Heidelberg can therefore attend classes in disicplines that range from Art History to Fine Arts and Performance/Communication Studies to History, Sociology, Regional Studies and Anthropology.

Per academic year, up to three master students can spend one semester in Hyderabad (January to April). Successful applicants will receive a waiver of tuition fees and free housing at the Tagore International House (lodging and food). The deadline for applications is September 30 of each year.


To apply please send the following documents to Ms. Jule Nowoitnick, coordinator of the M.A. Transcultural Studies:

  • statement of purpose/letter of motivation, including why you choose to apply to which School and how this fits your master thesis topic
  • CV
  • current transcripts of records
  • Proof of very good proficiency in English at least at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (as certified copy!)
  • letter of recommendation by a university lecturer

All application material, including the letter of recommendation, has to be in English.
