About Natalia Bachour

Natalia Bachour is a scholar in translation studies, and the history of science, and pharmacy. She studied at the Universities of Damaskus, Kiel, Heidelberg and Mainz. In the scope of her research at the HCTS, she focuses on transcultural knowledge sharing and changing body perceptions within their cultural and historical context. Her research project "The human body as remedy out of a historico-cultural and medical perspective: Studies about the knowledge transfer in the Arabian medicine of Middle Ages and modern times" aims at studying the medicinal use of human body parts.

After having recieved her doctoral degree at Heidelberg University in history of pharmacy, she worked at the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies at the University of Zurich and completed a research residence at the Forschungszentrum Gotha of Erfurt University. Natalia Bachour started working on her project at the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies in June 2018.
