HCTS Stadtgespräch opens at Karl Jaspers Center

On Friday, November 3 at 3:15 pm, the series "HCTS Stadtgespräch" opened with an event at the Karl Jaspers Center for Transcultural Studies. The event with the title "Building Nature - Stadt, Natur und Kunst" seeked to address not only researchers at Heidelberg University, but also the citizens of Heidelberg.

The "HCTS Stadtgespräch" was an event that seeked to address not only researchers at Heidelberg University, but also the citizens of the city of Heidelberg. Under the title "Building Nature - Stadt, Natur und Kunst", researchers from the Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies (HCTS) and its cooperation partners met with representatives of different institutions in Heidelberg to engage in a discussion about the city.

Prof. Christoph Kueffer, urban ecologist from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, opened the event with his lecture on "Designing Nature - Stadtnatur zwischen Ökologie und Kunst", with an introduction by Prof. Barbara Mittler, Acting Director of the Cluster "Asia and Europe".

After the lecture, Dr. Dominik Collet from the Heidelberg Center for the Environment, moderated the roundtable that functioned as a response to the lecture. Prof. Michael Braum, urban planner and managing director of the IBA Heidelberg, Prof. Annette Hornbacher, Managing Director of the Anthropology Department at Heidelberg University and Prof. Monica Juneja, Chair of Global Art History at the HCTS, each commented on Prof. Kueffers talk and then engaged in a discussion on the general theme of the event.

 

The event was a cooperation with the Heidelberg Center for the Environment.
