Film with Deepali Gaur Singh on Afghan Diaspora

Dr. Deepali Gaur Singh and her research work are introduced in this film portrait. The researcher and media practitioner focuses on the Afghan diaspora in Germany.
In the film, Dr. Deepali Gaur Singh and her research are introduced by following her producing a documentary film on the Afghan diaspora in Germany. The focus of the project is on the circumstances of the flight and the experiences of Afghans in another country. Deepali Gaur Singh explores the different and multi-sited entanglements of them between tradition and modernity.
Dr. Deepali Gaur Singh was a short-term post doctoral fellow of the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” in 2010. Having received her PhD. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, she researches on Tajikistan and Afghanistan, rural development as well as on gender issues. Now, the independent researcher and media practitioner lives in New Delhi.
The film portrait was produced by Christoph Bertolo and Frank Pfeiffer. It is part of a series by the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology under supervision of Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius. The idea is to present selected Cluster researchers and their projects. Among others, the ethnomusicologist Franck Bernède, the historian Manik Man Bajracharya and the archaeologist Philipp W. Stockhammer have already been portrayed.
