Cluster holds General Meeting

On Thursday afternoon, the Cluster "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" held its General Meeting at the Karl Jaspers Centre for Advanced Transcultural Studies.

After a brief address of welcome, the Acting Director Prof. Dr. Axel Michaels reviewed some of the developments during the last semester. Among other highlights, he mentioned the meeting of the Cluster's Advisory Board and the Cluster's Summer School. Subsequently, Prof. Michaels talked with the audience about the Excellence Initiative and future plans of the Cluster.

Later, the two new Cluster members Julia Hänsel and Tina Schilbach introduced themselves. Dr. David Mervart was elected as Deputy Speaker of the Junior Researchers in the Cluster's Steering Committee. Further topics of the meeting were developments regarding the Heidelberg Research Architecture and the publication of new books.

The General Meeting is a major event at the Cluster, because all members come together and exchange important information. The General Meeting is held at the beginning and at the end of every semester.

After the General Meeting, members and friends of the Cluster celebrated a nice Summer party.
